Book - Critical Thinking. Activity Book. encourages children to understand that critical thinking is not about distrusting everything and everyone, but about recognizing when information can be trusted. Understanding how knowledge has been produced, and continues to be produced today, is an essential step in acquiring knowledge.

This activity book introduces the scientific approaches used across a range of disciplines, including astronomy, biology, chemistry, geology, computer science, physics, and the history of science. While an astrophysicist does not work in the same way as a chemist, all scientific disciplines share a common foundation in their methods.

The book is divided into four sections - "Measuring," "Interpreting," "Communicating," and "Building a Model" - each presenting familiar situations and phenomena through which scientists demonstrate their expertise.

The activities invite children to explore the chemistry of colours, archaeological dating, palaeontology, medical protocols, Morse code, scientific vocabulary, observations of the night sky, as well as some of the evidence for the Earth's shape.

At the end of each example, the "Good to Know" section highlights an important aspect of the scientific method, helping children develop sound reasoning and sharpen their critical thinking through a balance of curiosity, doubt, and confidence. An engaging and educational book designed to encourage observation, understanding, and thoughtful inquiry.
