Pour un art du gratte-ciel
"I believe that in order to achieve style it is much more important that we are good observers and good mirrors rather than good designers." Louis Henri Sullivan. This collection brings together some fifty texts - essays, articles, interviews, letters or conferences - unpublished in French by Louis H. Sullivan, master of the Chicago school and author of the precept "form always follows function".
Most of them appeared in reviews between 1882 and 1924. They form the story of modernity as it was dreamed of at the same time as it was being built.
